James N. Eastwood
James has been practising law in Brockville since 1992, specializing in Family and Employment Law.
Raised in Ottawa, James graduated from Lisgar Collegiate Institute before earning a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction at Carleton University. He attended the University of Toronto Law School, where he graduated in 1989. During his legal studies, James enjoyed a number of interesting work opportunities—including positions with the Judge Advocate General’s Office, the Crown Law/Civil Office, and Labour Canada. James articled at Nelligan Power (now Nelligan O’Brien Payne) in Ottawa.
James joined the Brockville firm of Stewart Corbett Law Offices in 1992, before establishing Eastwood Law Offices with Jennifer O’Reilly in 2013. James and Jennifer are now practising in association at Eastwood, O’Reilly Law Offices.
In recent years, James increased his formal training in alternative dispute resolution processes, successfully completing his Certificate in Family Law Mediation at York University. He is also licensed in collaborative negotiations. He has been an agent for the Family Responsibility Office since 1998.
The benefit of many years’ experience in family and employment law is the ability to empathize with the challenging emotions experienced by clients, while retaining the skill to work closely with clients to get them the best legal solutions – through conflict resolution where possible, or through focused advocacy when required.
James lives in Brockville with his wife, Jennifer. Their three adult children have transitioned between the Toronto area and Brockville during the pandemic, discovering through that process the unique beauty of living in the Thousand Islands area. A self-proclaimed athlete his entire life, James coached Brockville youth sports teams (in soccer and hockey) for many years. He remains actively involved in sports and fitness—admittedly, with much more effort than in days gone by. Past sports’ accomplishments (placing a forgiving interpretation on ‘accomplishments’) are actively embellished.
James supports the City of Brockville, and currently sits on the Board of Directors at the Brockville General Hospital.
Jennifer A. O’Reilly
I’m Jennifer O’Reilly.
I graduated from Queen’s University, Faculty of Law, receiving my Juris Doctor in 2011, being called to the Bar in 2012. Prior to that, I obtained my Bachelor of Social Science, with a specialization in Political Science, from the University of Ottawa in 2008.
I was born and raised in Brockville and have been happy to establish my legal practice here. During my undergraduate degree, throughout law school, and for my articles, I have worked with James Eastwood. Time was spent at Stewart Corbett, Eastwood Law Offices and Henderson Eastwood Tuck. In June 2021, James Eastwood and I transitioned to our current space, Eastwood O’Reilly Law Offices where we practise in association.
The focus of my practice is family and child protection law. I also assist my clients with estate planning. I regularly advocate for clients in the Superior Court of Justice while also focusing on obtaining resolutions outside of court processes.
When I am not busy lawyering, I can be found spending time with family and friends. I am an Ironman triathlete, completing this three-sport test of perseverance in 2015. As time allows, I continue to swim, bike, and run.
